Diana: “My emotions went wild”

Diana lives in Kaliningrad, in Russia. She is 13 years old and sent me an awesome letter in Russian about her best day.

Juliane Staltmaier from projekt Anna translated the letter for me. (Thanks a lot!)
Diana writes:

My best day was just a short time ago, on the 21 of November 2018. That was the day when we had a performance together with the team “Difficult age” in the Club of the cheerful and sharp-witted in Moscow. After the show all teams were invited to the stage to hear the results of the competition. We were terribly nervous because the name of our team was not mentioned. We were standing there smiling and joyful, though in our hearts we were scared and sad, because we realized that we would not go to the semi-finals. They also added some teams from the other games, but the name of our team had still not been said. We thought that was the end, tears were coming to my eyes, I tried my best to restrain myself and not to cry. And finally, the jury uttered the words that I will remember for a long time: “We could not help noticing these guys, Guryevsk, you go to the semi-finals!” My emotions went wild.

Dear Diana, thank you so much for your beautiful letter! Спасибо. ❤
I could really empathize with you while I read your letter. I know the feeling when you want to go on with something you love, and you hope and wait for the result. It’s amazing that you went to the semi-finals with your team! Congratulations, and I wish you so much fun and success with your team and your performances. Big hug, Karina.

“Darles de comer a las palomitas” (To feed the little pigeons)

I don’t know the child’s name who sent me this letter, but it’s from Colombia, from Popayán.
It’s a beautiful letter in Spanish with a lovely drawing, too.

In English, the letter says:

How a happy day is for me
For me a happy day is to go to eat ice cream, to go camping with my whole family, to go to the park, to go to the steeple and at the steeple to ascend the nave, connected because it tickles in my stomach, and also to go to the swimming pool. I like to go to the Parque de Caldas (the Caldas Park, a park in Popayán) to see the illumination there and to feed the little pigeons that I sometimes see how they take a bath.

Hello there, thanks a lot for your letter and the drawing! Muchas gracias. I like the heart balloons and the swing and the slide that you drew! 🙂 It looks like a lot of fun in the park. I also had a look on the internet at pictures of the Caldas Park in Popayán. It must be a really nice place.  I hope you enjoy a lot of beautiful days there, feeding the little pigeons, and also eating ice cream and when you go camping with your family. Lots of love, Karina.

Nashaat: “My happy day is going outside and playing with my brother and dad”

I’m very happy to share the first letter from Canada with you! 🙂 Lately, I opened my mailbox to find a big envelope from Edmonton with lots of wonderful cute letters.
The letters are from Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre. Rosa is the teacher of the preschool program there and sent me letters from the children ages 3 ½ to 5 years old. They drew wonderful pictures which I will share with you one by one.

Edmonton is the capital city of the Canadian province of Alberta and the northernmost city in North America. Rosa wrote me that it is still very cold, with a lot of snow on the ground. The children hope that spring comes soon. They love playing in the snow, but when days are cold they like to come inside, stay warm and drink hot chocolate. 🙂

The first picture I want to share with you is from Nashaat. Nashaat’s happy day is going outside and playing with his brother and dad. Nashaat drew a colorful bright picture about his happy day.

Thank you so much Nashaat for drawing this beautiful picture about your happy day! ❤ As a child I also loved to go outside and play with my brother. We spent hours around the garden playing hide-and-seek for example. 🙂
I hope that spring will arrive soon in Edmonton and that you have a lot of fun playing in the snow until then.
And also a really big thank you to Rosa for her work and for sending the letters to me. ❤
Best wishes, Karina.

Joel: “Every home here prepares nice meals”

Joel is 14 years old and lives in Kenya, in Ebukanga.

Joel’s letter has to do with Christmas. The letter is in English and Joel sent it to me at the end of last year, so it’s time to finally share it with you! 🙂

Joel writes that Christmas is his happiest day. The celebrations begin at home and then go on at church. Every home prepares nice meals and the people share the meals with everyone. People put on their best clothes and go to church, and then they walk around and enjoy the day.

Dear Joel, thanks a lot for your letter! I’m fine, thank you, I hope you are doing well, too. 🙂 I’m sorry you had to wait a little bit until I shared your letter. As I often receive several letters from one country it takes some time to share them all. It’s great that you like Christmas so much. I also enjoy Christmas days. It’s a very special time of the year and I like the way it is celebrated in your town. I wish you many more beautiful Christmas celebrations and send a big hug from Germany to Kenya! ❤ Karina.

“Und ja, wir sind in Disney Land” (And yes, we are in Disney Land)

I don’t know the child’s name who sent me this letter, but it reached me from Sighisoara in Romania, from one of the children who go to the German school there.

The letter is in German, and in English it says:

The best day of my life!

It was on a sunny day with nice weather. We went to the car and I asked where we go, but my Mom didn’t answer. And I said: “Las-o baltă”. (Las-o baltă is Romanian and means “Forget it”.) Two hours later I asked again, and my Mom said we go shopping and I said okay. And then we just stopped, and I said: “What happened?” and my Mom said that we go to Disney Land and I ignored that. She said it once more and I ignored it again and then she said: “Get out of the car” and I shouted for joy. And yes, we are in Disney Land and I went to Winnie-the-Pooh and to Ariel and to Belle and to others. Lastly, I ate ice cream and lastly lastly I celebrated.

And this was the most beautiful day in my life!

– Hey there, thanks a lot for your letter! 🙂 It really made me smile! I can imagine the car ride without knowing where you go and the great surprise as you really ended up in Disney Land! This must have been an unforgettable day. When I was ten years old, my Mom also spent a day with my brother and me in Disney Land and I loved it so much. Me too, I never forgot this incredible day. Big hug from Karina. 🙂
